Firefighters were on-scene at Trethewey Avenue battling a blaze that erupted in a vacant house on Thursday morning.
Three houses were close by, and overgrown brush surrounded the property as fire crews struggled to gain access to the fully-involved structure fire.
There’s evidence of possible squatters but that’s unconfirmed. Explosions were heard from the rear of the building.
A City of Chilliwack rezoning sign sits on the property, as it is proposed to be the site of a future modular supportive housing facility.
