A propane-powered cube van caught on fire and caused a section of Highway 19 to be closed to traffic in both directions yesterday afternoon.
The highway was closed between Port McNeill and Port Hardy near the Port Alice junction while emergency services were on scene.
It was closed from approximately 3:30 pm until 7:00 pm, when it was reopned to traffic.

RCMP officers and Emcon Services Inc. were also on site at either end of the closure to inform drivers of the closure and that they could take a detour via logging roads.
