A violent confrontation put a damper on Boxing Day festivities at a Kelowna home on Saturday.
At about 2:30 p.m., the Kelowna RCMP responded to a report of a violent break and enter that had just occurred to a residence in the 400 block of Christleton Avenue in Kelowna.
So far in the investigation, police have determined that two suspects gained entry into the residence through an unlocked door and confronted the residents, a 29-year-old Kelowna man and a 27-year-old Kelowna woman.
Once inside the home the suspects each produced a weapon and made efforts to prevent the two residents from leaving the home. The 29-year-old man was assaulted by the suspects who were later spooked by the emergency sirens of what police believe was a passing ambulance.
The suspects fled, prior to police arriving on scene, in a vehicle witnesses described as an SUV possibly brown in colour. A portion of Christleton Avenue was blocked off by police for abut three hours to allow the Kelowna RCMP to investigate the crime scene.
The 29-year-old victim was taken to Kelowna General Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. He was released from hospital later that day.
One suspect is described as Caucasian; short buzzed brown hair approximately five-foot-eight in height.
The other suspect is described as Caucasian; short buzzed brown hair; approximately 5-foot-10 in height.
Police believe both suspects were known to the residents of the home, that this incident was a targeted event and that the public is not at risk.
Police will not be releasing any further details at this time.
