Virtual public meeting about Keremeos’ Official Community Plan Nov. 18

The RDOS will be hosting the meeting

  • Nov. 13, 2020 12:00 a.m.

Residents of Keremeos are invited to participate in an virtual public meeting on the draft Official Community Plan and Zoning bylaws on Nov. 18.

The meeting is to provide information on the proposed changes to the plans, and to answer questions and gather feedback from the community.

The current OCP was adopted in 2013, while the Zoning Bylaw was adopted in 2011. Good practice for municipalities is considered to include a review and update of the OCP every seven to 10 years.

The Regional District of the Okanagan Similkameen will be hosting the online meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. on Nov. 18.

The draft OCP will include updates based on the 2016 census, current trends and land availability, a review of the Agricultural Land Reserve boundaries, and other considerations.

The update is seeking, amongst other things, to ensure that these bylaws are clear, consistent and work together to further the long-term goals and objectives of the community.

Additional information regarding this update of the OCP and Zoning Bylaws, including copies of the draft bylaws, comparison tables and background reports, can be found at the Village’s website at www.keremeos.ca, then going to Services → Keremeos OCP and Zoning Bylaw Review.

Feedback on the draft bylaws is asked to be sent in writing by email to coordinator@keremeos.ca, faxing to 250-499-5477 or by post to 702 4th Street, Keremeos, Box 160, BC, V0X-1N0. Feedback forms can be accessed at keremeos.civicweb.net/document/3892.

Feedback for the revisions to the plan will be gathered until a final deadline that will be announced at the public meeting.

Once feedback is finished being gathered, and reviewed by the planner, the revised bylaws will be presented to Keremeos’ council for first reading.
