Volunteering to help evacuated pets and livestock

Collecting recycling donations, cleaning, feeding and exercising evacuated critters

Trudy R. Stringer is collecting donations of cans and bottles from anyone and anywhere she can to help out evacuated animals that are temporarily being sheltered in Prince George right now.

She stopped in at the Omineca Express office in Vanderhoof on her way to her destination in Prince George.

The deposit money she receives from returning the recylables will be donated to help feed and take care of these pets and livestock have been evacuated from wildfire affected areas down south; Williams Lake, Quesnel, 100 Mile, 70 Mile, Loon Lake or wherever they may have been from.

Trudy has travelled to Burns Lake, Grassy Plains, 16 kms into the bush, Fraser Lake, Fort Fraser, Fort St. James and Vanderhoof collecting recycling cans and bottles.

“The evacuated animals have been going to Prince George so far, but will start coming to Vanderhoof now,” said Trudy, her heart goes out to all animals, she has horses, dogs and cats herself.

Great group of hard working kids from Vanderhoof put in a five hour shift from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Monday July 17 at the Prince George Agriplex cleaning and feeding and exercising evacuated critters. “Nice job ladies, says Theresa Philips, “Now they get to eat!” Theresa posted this photo of the group, iincluding her daughter Taylor, finally sitting down to rest and refuel.
