Police have released a photograph of the vehicle they believe is being driven by a convicted murderer who was in the Qualicum Beach area last month.
Jack Dennis Woods is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant after he skipped parole from a halfway house in Peterborough, Ontario. He rented a cabin in the Qualicum Beach area in November of 2010 and stayed there until photographs and news reports circulated in local media.
Woods was convicted of second degree murder in 1996 for an incident in Edmonton and spent 13 years in prison for the crime before being paroled in September of last year and sent to the halfway house.
Woods took to his heels and was gone by the time RCMP received a tip about where he had been living and began staking out the cabin.
Nanaimo RCMP Constable Gary O’Brien said Woods is believed to be driving a 2000 burgundy Dodge Caravan with B.C. plates 658 DLC.
He noted the vehicle was purchased from the owners of the cabin and is in need of a new water pump.
Woods is described as 5 feet, seven inches in height, and 200 pounds, with a scar on his forehead and tattoos on both arms. He is missing the little fingers on both of his hands.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact the Oceanside RCMP at 250-248-6111 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
