Warren Alfred Baader, a Port Alberni man charged with manslaughter in the death of his two-month-old daughter has been released from custody on a $7,500 bail with conditions.
Baader, 20, made his first physical appearance in Port Alberni Provincial Court on Wednesday, Nov. 30 and then in Nanaimo Provincial Court on Dec. 1. His next appearance is in Port Alberni on Jan. 18 at 9 a.m.
Under bail conditions, Baader must reside with his father, have a nightly curfew from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., not consume or possess any alcohol or other intoxicating substances and not possess any firearms or ammunition.
In addition, Baader must not contact the baby’s mother or her family or any child under the age of 10 except with the supervision of the child’s parent of guardian.
Port Alberni RCMP were called to West Coast General Hospital on Oct. 28 after baby Molly arrived in medical distress. Baader was charged with aggravated assault following the RCMP’s investigation into the baby’s injuries.
The baby was later transferred to BC Children’s Hospital. After the infant died in hospital on Nov. 3, Baader was charged with manslaughter.
