The 46-unit supportive housing project on Yale Road is expected to open in February

Modular structures were lined up at the Yale Road supportive housing project site as the first one was lifted into place Saturday morning.

A handful of pedestrians stopped to watch as a crane moved the modular unit onto its base at the former Traders Inn site at Yale Road near Cheam and First avenues.

With an expected completion date of next month, the site will soon be home to a 46-unit residence. It will assist the homeless, and those at risk of it, to get off the streets, and transition into stability with key services in place to help them do it.

It is one of two 46-unit modular housing facilities scheduled to open this year. The other, on Trethewey Avenue, is scheduled to open in August.
