Cache Creek was on Flood Watch early last week, but the risk was
lowered to High Stream Flow Advisory by mid-week.
Administrator Tom Kadla said the Village has a stockpile of 25,000
sandbags on hand. They placed some at Sage n Sands, trailer park along
the Bonaparte River, and the rest went to the Public Works yard, which
is also situated on the river at the opposite end of town.
Flood warnings usually don’t happen in Cache Creek until
June/July.
Kadla said many concerned residents are calling the Village Office
about the rising water.
Last Wednesday, the BC River Forecast Centre advised that River levels
crested early on Tuesday, May 17th, and have been receding since,
including the Bonaparte below Cache Creek which is near or below the
two year flow level.
