Water service has been fully restoried to utility users in the area of Eighth Street and Columbia Drive.

The Town was alerted Wednesday of a water main break outside the Bulkley Valley Child Development Centre.

Mark Allen, the Town’s director of development services said approximately 20 households were affected.

Workers turned down two valves allowing residents to maintain water overnight, albeit with reduced water pressure and volume.

Workers completed the repair Thursday morning.

The Child Development Centre which sits on the property where the break occurred had earlier announced it was closing down due to COVID-19 concerns.

The Bulkley Valley District Hospital, which sits on the southeast corner of Eighth and Columbia was not affected by the break.

Spring water main breaks are fairly common because of extreme fluctuations in temperature and ground thawing.
