Peachland water taken from Deep Creek is rated as Fair, 3.54 NTU, on Tuesday, March 11.
This rating warrants a Water Quality Advisory, although a status report on the Peachland municipality’s turbidity index gives it a “good” water quality status.
When the water quality is rated “fair” a water quality advisory is issued. While the associated health risks are minimal, Interior Health recommends that children, the elderly, people with weakened immune systems, and anyone seeking additional protection, drink boiled water or a safe alternative until further notice. For those at-risk populations, water intended for drinking, washing fruits or vegetables, making juice or ice, or brushing teeth should be boiled for one minute.
SPRING RUN-OFF
Spring runoff and turbidity (discoloured water) occurs annually, usually between April to June. Water that looks cloudy or brownish can be expected. Check the Turbidity Report on your local municipalwebsites for information on your water quality. You may choose to leave your drinking water in the fridge to allow it to settle.
A check of your household water filters during this time would be advised as extra fine filters cannot cope if silt is present.

- Ponderosa and Peachland Heights water is supplied by wells and is also supplemented by Deep Creek during the summer months.
- Deep Creek Intake consists of a screened chamber and chlorinating station but does not filter the water.
