To shine the spotlight on the amount of time and money lost due to traffic congestion, the Federation of Canadian Municipalities has launched the website Cut My Commute.

The numbers that scroll in real time reveal just how bad traffic problems are plaguing the nation since the federal election was called March 25. The national economic impact is estimated at more than $300 million, while more than 200 million hours have been wasted by motorists in traffic.

The website www.fcm.ca/election2011/cutmycommute lets people calculate what their commutes are costing them in time and money, as well as to the Canadian economy.
