Cranbrook RCMP responded to 151 calls for service from Monday, Aug. 10 to Sunday, Aug. 16. Acting Sgt. Scott Milliken provided the details of the report.
Aug. 10
2:20 a.m. Police received a call about a mischief in progress. The caller said a man was threatening to smash a window.
7:22 a.m. A bike was reported stolen. The bike was an older model with no serial number. The caller wanted the report added as information.
8:02 a.m. Tires were reported slashed on a cargo trailer.
8:40 a.m. Report of a suspicious person. The person was a male on a bike who was taking pop cans from people’s garages. The caller noted the man had left without incident.
9:37 a.m. A mobile radio was reported stolen from a tow truck shop.
11:56 a.m. Report of an erratic driver west of Cranbrook. The vehicle was not located.
12:15 p.m. Police attended a residence to keep the peace as while an individual picked up belongings.
12:44 p.m. Report of harassment — the caller requested a peace bond against another resident.
1:16 p.m. A vehicle travelling northbound from Cranbrook was reported for passing five vehicles into oncoming traffic and erratic driving.
2:12 p.m. Report of a lost licence plate decal.
3:15 p.m. Police were called about an assault. The caller reported that an elderly woman was assaulting a man. She was known to assault employees at the store she was at.
4:16 p.m. A fight was reported on Victoria Avenue North.
6:20 p.m. Police received an abandoned 911 call. It turned out to be a driver attempting to call about a Ford Mustang with Alberta plates that was driving erratically and using turning lanes and double solid stretches of highway to pass.
6:27 p.m. Report of a man and woman fighting on the 900 block of Cranbrook Street North.
7:19 p.m. Report of a two vehicle accident. Both vehicles were registered in Alberta.
8:14 p.m. A suspicious circumstance was reported. It turned out to be a naked man in a vehicle with a woman. They were told by police to move along.
8:36 p.m. A white GMC pickup from Alberta was called in for erratic driving on highway 3/95.
Aug. 11
2:20 a.m. A caller reported hearing unknown people on the deck of their house on the 2200 block of 12th Avenue North.
5:00 a.m. A suspicious person was reported sitting on the railroad tracks north of Fort Steele.
9:30 a.m. Report of an erratic driver. The driver was passing on double solids and speeding.
10:05 a.m. Police were notified of failure of a suspect to show up for a criminal court appearance.
10:16 a.m. A pickup towing a trailer was reported after it hit and damaged a gas pump at a local service station, then drove off.
10:48 a.m. Horses were reported on the highway on the 200 block of Van Horne Street South.
11:23 a.m. A grizzly with cubs was reported on College Way headed into the Community Forest.
12:20 p.m. The Elk Valley RCMP detachment requested assistance with a case.
1:33 p.m. A caller reported hearing what sounded like gunshots near Kahn Road.
3:09 p.m. Report of an uninsured vehicle on Baker Street.
3:58 p.m. Police assisted in a call about a grass fire on Cranbrook Street North.
6:40 p.m. A caller reported that a man was yelling in a nearby back alley.
8:20 p.m. Six youth were reported to be sitting on a picnic table drinking on the 600 block of Victoria Avenue South.
8:34 p.m. A TV recently stolen by a shoplifter was recovered. The suspect had left the area and was likely intoxicated.
11:45 p.m. A caller reported that someone was trying to break into their RV trailer, as the alarm was triggered.
Aug. 12
12:17 a.m. A possible impaired driver was reported.
12:41 p.m. Police responded to a complaint about loud music on King Street West.
9:00 a.m. Report of an abandoned vehicle on Highway 3, west of Cranbrook, near Moyie. The vehicle had broken down and was left there a few days.
10:57 a.m. Report of an assault in progress on the 1800 block of 2nd Street North. It was between a mother and daughter.
12:45 p.m. A caller reported they’d found a decapitated pigeon in a shopping cart on a roof on the 200 block of 16th Avenue North.
12:39 p.m. A 2010 Hyundai Sonata was reported stolen from dealership. The vehicle was taken for a test drive and not returned for three or four hours.
1:52 p.m. A two-vehicle accident occurred on the 500 block of Cranbrook Street North.
3:22 p.m. Police brought an individual to hospital under the Mental Health Act.
4:10 p.m. A caller reported that a small blue car had hopped the curb and damaged his chain link fence on the 2000 block of 2nd Street South.
5:20 p.m. A three year old child was reported missing from 37th Street South.
Aug. 13
1:16 a.m. A fight was reported at a local bar.
8:30 a.m. Report of a breach of court ordered conditions.
11:08 a.m. Police received a complaint against a member.
12:10 p.m. Report of harassment via text message.
1:32 p.m. Report of an individual threatening another individual in the Fort Steele-Wardner Road area.
2:26 p.m. Police assisted another detachment in delivering subpoena to an individual living in the area.
4:41 p.m. Report of a sexual assault.
6:15 p.m. The US parents of a 20 year old living in town asked for a well-being check.
7:07 p.m. A wellbeing check was requested on a 55-year-old man who lives alone.
7:28 p.m. A caller reported that a suspicious vehicle may hide a suspicious person within.
8:46 p.m. Police responded to a report of an assault at the hospital.
9:26 p.m. Police issued a 24 hour driving suspension.
9:27 p.m. An officer issued a 90 day Immediate Roadside Prohibition and 30 day vehicle impound.
11:54 p.m. An individual was brought to hospital under the Mental Health Act.
Aug. 14
12:36 p.m. Report of a break and enter in progress. Two male with flashlights were seen trying to gain access to a trailer on Standard Hill Road.
7:39 a.m. Items were reported stolen from a vehicle.
10:28 p.m. An abandoned vehicle was reported in the college parking lot.
10:50 a.m. Report of items stolen from a vehicle, including CDs, cash and Canadian Tire money.
11:55 a.m. A family of four failed to pay for their meal at a Moyie restaurant.
1:55 p.m. An individual reported losing stetted earrings and a watch in a public washroom.
4:28 p.m. Four intoxicated individuals were reported in a local grocery store parking lot, causing a disturbance.
8:44 p.m. Police assisted ambulances with a Mental Health Act case in which the individual refused to go to the hospital.
9:07 p.m. A loud house party was reported on the 1300 block of 1st Street South.
10:49 p.m. A caller reported his truck’s windshield had been smashed.
Aug. 15
12:01 a.m. An assault was rep rote din a local grocery store parking lot.
12:47 a.m. Police assisted the fire department in warning and moving residents of Westview Road because of lightning.
2:31 a.m. A fight between two men was reported outside a local restaurant.
6:36 a.m. Police assisted fire crews at the scene of a structure fire on Van Horne Street.
7:52 a.m. A caller reported seeing a vehicle throw a cigarette butt out of their window.
12:32 p.m. Report of tires slashed on a vehicle.
2:15 p.m. A white truck with a canopy hit a car while changing lanes on Cranbrook Street North, then left the scene.
10:42 p.m. An assault was reported. A man with a baseball bat assaulted another man on the 900 block of Cranbrook Street North.
Aug 16
1:52 a.m. An officer issued a 90 day Immediate Roadside Prohibition.
9:08 a.m. A man was reported for jumping out of a truck and then punching another man in a a rural area.
12:57 p.m. A driver was reported for road raging on Highway 3/93.
5:12 p.m. Report of a loud party on the 300 block of 4th Avenue South.
11:19 a.m. A dark green United BMX was exported stolen near Gordon Terrace School. It was not locked up.
