Cranbrook RCMP answered 176 calls over the past week, through Sunday night, May 17. Staff Sgt. David Dubnyk gave the details.
May 11
12:16 a.m. An officer on patrol stopped a vehicle and found the driver to show signs of impairment. The driver failed a roadside screening and was issued an immediate roadside prohibition.
3:47 a.m. A suspicious person was reported in a neighbourhood along Jimsmith Lake Road.
3:42 a.m. Police received a report that someone had seen an unlicensed driver driving an uninsured vehicle. Police located the vehicle and found that the vehicle did indeed have insurance and the driver a licence.
8:56 a.m. A report of a lost licence plate.
9:17 a.m. Vandalism to vehicle was reported overnight.
12:10 p.m. A disturbance was reported on the 1100 block of 7th Avenue South. It appeared to be a family dispute.
1:45 p.m. Report of threats.
1:59 p.m. A report of an email scam circulating in town.
2:29 p.m. Breach of court ordered conditions.
3:22 p.m. Report of lost licence plate decal.
3:30 p.m. Police were requested to assist BC Ambulance with a patient.
3:40 p.m. A shoplifter was reported at a local department store.
3:58 p.m. Report of vandalism — a large rock was thrown through a window at a residence in the 900 block of 9th Street South.
4:08 p.m. An erratic driver was reported. The vehicle was a silver Ford F150 with B.C. licence plates headed towards Fernie. Fernie RCMP were notified.
5:55 p.m. Report of threats.
7:12 p.m. A two vehicle accident occurred on 1st Street South and 11th Avenue South. The driver of one vehicle was charged with failure to yield after a stop.
7:52 p.m. A neighbourhood dispute was reported, on the 3100 block of 5th Street South.
9:02 p.m. A disturbance at a residence was reported, on 8th Avenue South.
9:24 p.m. BC Ambulance requested police assistance to gain access to a residence due to an emergency.
11:40 p.m. An officer on patrol pulled over a driver and determined he had likely been drinking. The driver failed a roadside test and was given a 90 immediate roadside prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
May 12
8:58 p.m. Request from Alberta RCMP to obtain statements from a witness in Cranbrook.
10:26 p.m. Report of an abandoned vehicle.
12:03 p.m. A caller reported seeing an individual walking near 2nd Street South and Victoria Avenue with what looked like a knife. Police located the person in question and found no knife.
1:52 p.m. Columbia Valley RCMP requested local police to serve a document to a local business.
3:30 p.m. An erratic driver was reported. It was an all black vehicle with B.C. licence plates, passing on the right and driving erratically.
3:46 p.m Report of a domestic dispute.
5:58 p.m. A caller reported speeding vehicles going down 19th Street South.
6:25 p.m. Report of a suspicious vehicle along Highway 93/95.
7:22 p.m. A vehicle parked on the corner of Cross Road and New Lake Road was parked in a way that was a hazard.
9:59 p.m. Report of an assault.
May 13
2:12 a.m. A report of an abandoned vehicle on 2nd Street South and 15th Street South.
6:22 a.m. Report of harassment.
9:16 a.m. Report of an erratic driver. A red Dodge with B.C. plates was forcing people off the road.
9:20 a.m. A request from Columbia Valley RCMP to interview a person relating to a sexual assault.
9:25 a.m. Creston RCMP requested Cranbrook RCMP to conduct an interview relating to an arson case.
11:12 a.m. Crown council requested police to serve a local individual documents relating to a fraud case.
1:14 p.m. A black SUV was reported for erratic driving on Highway 3 near Moyie.
2:35 p.m. A gold and diamond necklace was stolen from a purse at a local medical facility.
4:59 p.m. Report of a vehicle passing a school bus while ti had its flashing lights activated.
6:22 p.m. A possible fraud attempt was reported. An individual was attempting to collect rental fees from residents.
7:17 p.m. A caller noted that they believed a male on the roadside was a person reported missing out of Alberta. Police spoke to the individual, who provided his name and found he was not the missing person.
8:26 p.m. Harassment between ex-spouses.
8:29 p.m. An individual checking into a local motel had outstanding arrest warrants.
May 14
2:35 a.m. Report of a domestic dispute.
3:20 a.m. Report of a suspicious vehicle on 2nd Street North and 2nd Avenue North.
3:39 a.m. BC Ambulance request police assistance in gaining access to a residence.
6:17 p.m. Report of an erratic driver. The vehicle had Alberta plates and was being driven fast, swerving and passing on double sold lines.
8:49 p.m. Loud music was reported on Wattsville Road.
9:20 p.m. A disturbance was reported in a local mobile home park.
9:50 p.m. A breach of court ordered conditions was reported.
11:00 p.m. A youth was reported missing. The youth was located and returned home.
May 15
2:32 a.m. A large fight occurred in a local park. Police arrested four individuals charged with assault.
4:00 a.m. Police performed a wellbeing check on request. The subject was visiting a friend and there were no problems.
6:38 a.m. The theft of a 21 foot SunChaser Cabin Cruiser was stolen sometime overnight in the 1000 block of 30th Avenue South.
10:23 a.m. A blue Chevrolet sedan was reported to be partially submerged in a creek near the Gold Creek reservoir. Police located the driver and determined he had lost control and skidded off the road.
12:13 p.m. Report of harassment between ex-spouses relating to child custody issues.
3:20 p.m. An individual turned in ammunition at the local detachment. The ammunition had been found in a recycling bin.
3:41 p.m. A theft was reported at a local business.
8:00 p.m. A restaurant reported that diners with a bill over $100 had dashed away without paying.
10:56 p.m. A red Chevrolet Corvette with B.C. plates was reported to be speeding and passing unsafely.
May 16
2:03 a.m. An individual was assaulted and belongings were stolen.
3:30 p.m. A local hotel reported that there was a intoxicated female in the lobby.
7:40 p.m. A disturbance was reported outside of a cabin in the Tye Lake area.
8:49 p.m. Report of camera equipment and other items stolen from a vehicle.
11:50 p.m. Report of an assault. The two individuals involved are known to each other.
4:04 p.m. BC Ambulance requested assistance with a patient at Koocanusa due to a possible drug overdose.
9:34 p.m. A single vehicle accident occurred on Industrial Road 2. The lone occupant of the vehicle had minor injuries and had to be removed by fire crews. The driver was taken to hospital and will likely be facing impaired driving charges.
10:12 p.m. Police at Koocanusa issued a three day immediate roadside prohibition.
May 17
1:09 a.m. Report of a possible impaired driver. Police pulled the vehicle over and found that the driver had an outstanding arrest warrant for federal parole. The individual was lodged in cells then transferred to prison in the Lower Mainland.
1:35 a.m. An individual was reported to be running across the rooftops of a local hotel.
2:35 a.m. An officer on patrol located an extremely intoxicated male. The man was arrested and lodged in cells until sober.
4:25 a.m. Police attended a dispute between campers at a local recreation site.
11:57 a.m. Three individuals were found consuming alcohol behind a local business.
12:56 p.m. A cell phone was found and turned into a local business.
2:48 p.m. A red Ford focus was reported to be driving erratically and passing on solid lines and into oncoming traffic.
9:36 p.m. Report of a domestic dispute.
