This week’s morning closure of the Old Kootenay Channel Bridge in West Creston will continue next week. From April 16-21, the bridge will be completely closed from 6-7 a.m. while Seismic 2000 Construction crews raise the bridge to shift misaligned spans.
The bridge has been undergoing repairs for a few weeks, as the crews contracted by the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure begin a six-month project that involves rehabilitation of the bridge substructure, deck patching and joint replacement.
Traffic is currently alternating single-lane, and other full closures may be necessary during the course of the project.
“We will issue further notice prior to us commencing these short duration closures with a view to providing the travelling public with a regular schedule of closures,” said Langton in a press release.
