West Kelowna: Election nomination papers available

West Kelowna district council candidates are required to have 25 qualified nominators sign their nomination papers.

Nomination packages for the 2014 general election will be available at the District of West Kelowna starting Aug. 22.

On Saturday, Nov. 15, West Kelowna residents will go to the polls to vote for one mayor, six councillors and one school trustee. Potential candidates can obtain nomination packages at the municipal office at 2760 Cameron Rd., in West Kelowna.

“We have the packages ready for anyone who is considering running for office and we are available to answer any questions they may have,” said Tracey Batten, West Kelowna’s chief electoral officer.

“The packages include the documents required for nomination but also key information including important dates, links to educational information and Council’s Strategic Priorities and Annual Report.”

The district does not require a nomination deposit; however, West Kelowna candidates are required to have 25 qualified nominators sign their nomination.

West Kelowna’s Election Office has created a webpage with a wealth of information for candidates and voters. The webpage, on the district’s website at www.districtofwestkelowna.ca, under Mayor and Council/Election 2014, includes frequently asked questions and provides information on mail-in ballots and even past election results.

Telephone inquiries can be directed to 778-797-1000.
