Lawyers are starting to sift through evidence that will be used when a local teen’s murder trial gets underway.
The court process dealing with Ashlee Hyatt’s June 2, 2010 death started Monday, but the trial itself isn’t expected to begin until Oct. 24.
First a judge will decide on the admissibility of some points of evidence, then a jury will be selected.
Hyatt, then 16, had gone to a friend’s house that she often frequented on San Clemente Avenue in Peachland when she allegedly got into a fatal altercation.
The name of the accused is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. She’s facing charges of second degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and assault causing bodily harm
