West Kelowna woman arrested in arson investigation

Charges related to vehicle set on fire in Carrington Road apartment complex.

A 49 year old West Kelowna woman has been charged with arson after a vehicle was set ablaze inside an apartment complex last month.

On Oct. 13,  shortly before 1 a.m., the West Kelowna RCMP received a report of a vehicle fire inside the underground parking of an apartment building on the 3600 block of Carrington Road.

West Kelowna firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze and prevented it from spreading to the building. Evidence suggested that the fire was intentionally lit and police commenced an arson investigation, which is still ongoing.

Jeanine Marie Bastien has been charged with arson damage to own property, arson in relation to inhabited property and mischief. She has since been released and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 28, 2013.
