RCMP seek second break and enter suspect
A View Royal man was attacked by two men claiming to be pizza delivery men, Oct. 24 at 9 p.m.
When the victim opened the door he was pushed into a glass coffee table and received cuts and lacerations in his hands and back.
He was taken to hospital for stitches. RCMP suspect it was a targeted attack.
Police arrested Nicholas Dinardo, 20, in Victoria and he made his first appearance in court Oct. 29.
The second suspect is still at large, he is described as five-foot-nine-inches, medium build with olive skin and a neck tattoo.
West Shore RCMP are asking anyone with information to call the detachment at 250-474-2264.
Victoria man arrested in three year-old robbery
Police got their man, nearly three years after a View Royal bank robbery.
Barry Ahenekew, a 47-year-old Victoria man was arrested Oct. 25 in the case of a robbery at the Scotia Bank in the Admiral’s Walk mall, Oct. 28, 2009.
The bank was robbed by a man who passed a note to the teller.
Items collected at the scene were sent for forensic testing and the results identified Ahenekew as the suspect, police said. That information was passed on to the West Shore RCMP, Oct. 18.
Ahenekew was arrested in New Westminster.
RCMP warn of slew of thefts on West Shore
RCMP are swamped with calls of theft from vehicles spanning Colwood, View Royal and Langford.
Between Oct. 26 and Oct. 29, 21 thefts were reported.
The vehicles targeted were all left unlocked and entered during the night.
Items stolen include iPods, tools, backpacks, stereos and change.
“If someone is awakened in the night, call us,” said Acting Sgt. Kathy Rochlitz, West Shore RCMP. “We are working 24 hours a day.”
Most calls to RCMP are coming in the morning which it too late to catch the thieves.
“These are all preventable offenses … lock your doors, park in well lit areas and remove your valuables,” Rochlitz said.
