If you could ask your mayor anything, what would it be?
Vision West Shore 2016 offers the opportunity for that and more during a gala evening featuring a panel discussion with four of five West Shore mayors in attendance.
“I guess this is your chance to hear the vision,” said WestShore Chamber of Commerce executive director Julie Lawlor. “From all the West Shore municipalities coming from under one roof, at one time.”
Mayors Carol Hamilton from Colwood, Stew Young from Langford, Ken Williams from Highlands and John Ranns of Metchosin have confirmed their attendance for the Chamber event.
View Royal Mayor David Screech is unavailable so the municipality will be represented by former mayor, Graham Hill.
“It’s really about bringing together these people … to talk about the experiences of the different areas and how that feeds into a larger conversation. (It’s) about where we are going,” Lawlor said.
“Each community is distinct and unique, but there is crossover. I think it’s an opportunity for all of us to be thinking … about where they see the West Shore going.”
The gala takes place at the Olympic View Golf Course on June 2 and begins with cocktails at 5 p.m. and music provided by the Belmont Jazz Quintet, followed by a buffet dinner at 6 and the panel discussion at 7.
The public is welcomed to submit written questions for the municipal representatives in advance or provide them at the event.
Tickets are $85 for WestShore Chamber of Commerce members and $110 for non-members.
Following the panel discussion, dessert will be served and there is an opportunity to answer a skill-testing question for a chance to win $10,000.
Anyone interested in submitting advance questions can do so at westshore.bc.ca/Vision2016.
