What the GUF

The new building being built for Greening Up Fort St. James Society (GUF) may have a few hurdles to overcome before it is completed.

The building’s foundation was poured, but because of some issues involving incorrect maps and measurements, the placement of the building could potentially limit the organization’s ability to expand according to their long-term plans and goals.

The board for the society is still working on what they will do with the structure as it sits and the contractor was looking at options to adjust some aspects of the structure at press time.

There have also been a few complaints from nearby businesses regarding the building’s placement coming in to the district, according to remarks at the latest council meeting.

However most are being addressed with dialogue, and the property is owned by the District of Fort St. James and therefore can be developed as they see appropriate. The property would have been developed eventually, regardless.
