First and foremost, I want to say “thank you” to everyone who came out to our Annual General Meeting last week.
It was great to see so many familiar faces and to meet some new women as well.
For those of you that were there, I would love to hear any feedback you may have, either what you liked about the AGM, or any ideas you might have to make it even better next year.
Also, I have uploaded the video that we were technologically unable to show to you that evening on Facebook.

The Summer Girlz Group: Girlz Rock is coming up quickly.
Activities will include a talent show, photography and the future, fashion, collage/scrapbooking, special guests and more.
Registration is happening now at the GWRC and will continue until we’re full. Be sure to register early as it’s first come, first serve event.
The itinerary looks like this: Going into grade 6: August 8 – 12, Going into grade 7: July 25 – 29 and Going into grade 8: July 11 – 15.
The summer session will run Monday through Friday, from 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. and costs $15 per girl (ask us about our subsidies if you need to).

Creative Wednesdays are ongoing here at the Golden Women’s Resource Centre. Please feel free to join us Wednesdays from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. for some creative time, good conversation and great company.
Children and babies are welcome as well. There are no creative requirements, it’s all about letting the creative juices flow.
There is some Arts News to share as well, Jane Tevelein Doel & Marty Ryan (local artists) have created an exhibit titled “Embodiment”.
This exhibit was created in memory of women who have disappeared, gone missing or been murdered.
A series of porcelain paperclay torsos, designed to look like banners or flags, pays tribute to and celebrates the collective voice of these women, and contributes to an awareness and a sense of hope that together we can stop these recurring tragedies.
Originally moved by the Highway of Tears, where many women are still missing, it also remembers all girls and women who have disappeared.
For those of you who were unable to see the show last summer in Golden, or who would like to see it again can at Pynelogs Art Centre, in Invermere, near the Kinsmen Beach. The opening reception with the artists is on Wednesday July 13, from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. The show runs from July 12 to 24.
