The City of White Rock’s new chief administrative officer has received one of the first-ever long-service awards bestowed by the Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators.
The distinction to Dan Bottrill – acknowledging 20 years of municipal service in a management capacity – was recognized Monday by Mayor Wayne Baldwin, who described the news as “something I’m very proud of.”
Bottrill took up duties as White Rock’s city manager in March.
He replaced Dennis Back, who had been in the role on an interim basis following the sudden resignation of Peggy Clark last December.
The long-service awards, which recognized a total of 244 municipal administrators across Canada for service ranging from 20 to 35 years, were presented by CAMA at a May 29 event in Saskatoon. Bottrill did not attend the event, but has received a pin, a letter and an inscribed plaque.
CAMA president Jim Toye described the inaugural awards as “a massive undertaking… but certainly worth it when you think of the cumulative years of administrative excellence that is being recognized.”
Going forward, they will be presented annually in the spring.
