Shuswap Orthodontics offered a sweet deal.

Orthodontist Brian Broadwell, dressed as Waldo, was covered in 215 pounds of candy, marking the end of his deal to pay kids for their donated Halloween treats.

The office temped kids away from excessive sugar consumption by paying them $5 for every pound of candy donated.

At a final total of 215 pounds delivered to the office, a total of $1,075 was paid out to various children, who felt the cash was a better deal than candy.

The candy will be donated to the Downtown Salmon Arm Association for use at community events.

For every pound of candy donated participants had a chance to an enter to win an iPod touch.

In addition, a pound of apples was also be donated to the local food bank for each pound of candy, making 215 pounds donated to the food bank.

Shuswap Orthodontics accepted the candy until Nov. 8.

The draw for the iPod will be held Nov. 23.
