Nine charges have been laid against a 100 Mile House man who is accused of trafficking parts of a dead bear in Interior and Cariboo regions.

Hong Hui Xie, who is 46, is facing charges of trafficking in bear gall bladders, trafficking in bear paws and unlawful possession of dead wildlife.

According to the B.C. Conservation Officers Services Facebook page, nine counts were laid against Xie for alleged offences that occurred in 100 Mile House and Cache Creek between October 2015 and September 2016.

According to court documents, Xie allegedly trafficked in a bear gall bladder, trafficked in bear paws separate from the carcass and trafficked in deer meat while in the 100 Mile House area from Oct. 27, 2015 to Jan. 21, 2016.

On Sept. 7, 2016, Xie allegedly trafficked in bear paws and gall bladders while in the Cache Creek area.

He is not being held in custody and he didn’t show up in Kamloops provincial court on Dec. 8, 2016 or Jan. 19, 2017 for applications for warrants, which resulted in the case being scheduled for another court appearance.

Xie’s next appearance in Kamloops provincial court is slated for Feb. 23 for an arraignment before an adjudicator.
