Strong winds that may cause damage are expected to last into the early evening in Greater Victoria.
Westerly winds at 60 kilometres per hour, gusting to 90 km/h, are expected in the region ahead of the noon hour as a strong cold front crosses the south coast. The strongest winds will be felt near the Straight of Juan de Fuca.
Environment Canada issued the wind warning Friday shortly before 8:30 a.m. An update at 3:40 p.m. said winds will ease early Friday evening.
The update also warned that loose objects may be tossed by the wind causing injury or damage. High winds could also cause tree branches to break.
