An overnight windstorm packing gusts of nearly 80 km/h rolled through the Lower Mainland, knocking down trees and power lines in the Langleys.
Thousands of BC Hydro customers lost service in both communities, with one of the biggest outages reported in the area west of 276 Street, east of 240 Street, north of 16 Avenue and South of 56 Avenue, which affected more than 2,000 in that location.
By mid-morning service had been restored to all but a few dozen Langley customers.
The wind storm caused numerous outages across the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island, and Central Interior, leaving about 180,000 Hydro customers without service at different times through the night.
The winds began to ease this morning and the forecast was for more temperate weather.
