Wolfenden Terrace parking a concern

Armstrong council voted unanimously to install no parking signs on both sides of Wolfenden Terrace

The number of vehicles parking on Armstrong’s  Wolfenden Terrace, in front of Heaton Place, has become a problem.

The road has no centre line and if parking was permitted on only one side of the street, the width of remaining roadway has been measured at 15 feet, assuming the vehicles parked of average width.

“Two-way traffic is able to proceed but it’s very tight,” said chief financial officer Terry Martens.

Parking on this section of road may or may not be in compliance with the city’s bylaw depending on the width of the vehicle(s) parked.

A solution, said Martens, is placing no parking signs on both sides of the street in the block between Jarvis Street and Okanagan Street.

The city already has sufficient no parking signs in stock.

There are existing painted parking stalls on both Wright Street and Jarvis Street adjacent to Heaton Place.

Council voted unanimously to install no parking signs on both sides of Wolfenden Terrace and will give a courtesy pre-notification of the move to Heaton Place.
