A woman has been charged with attempted murder for stabbing her boyfriend at an intersection in downtown Maple Ridge early Sunday.
Teresa Marlene Shayler was remanded in custody until Aug. 15 following a short hearing Tuesday in Port Coquitlam Provincial Court.
The 49-year-old was arrested at 5:30 a.m. Sunday after Ridge Meadows RCMP were called about a disturbance at Dewdney Trunk Road and 222nd Street.
Witnesses told police they saw the woman chasing her common-law partner, and that she stabbed him with a knife numerous times.
“This incident truly illustrates how domestic arguments can develop into very dangerous, physical altercations,” said Cpl. Alanna Dunlop.
“The victim, who is still in hospital, is recovering and is expected to survive his injuries. The matter is still being investigated, and will be in the hands of the courts.”
The investigation into the stabbing is being done by Ridge Meadows RCMP’s domestic violence co-ordinator, Const. Chris Wilson.
