A 22-year-old Quesnel man has been arrested and is facing multiple criminal charges stemming from a single vehicle crash that claimed the life of a 19-year-old Quesnel girl early Saturday morning.

Shortly before 3 a.m. Oct. 1, Quesnel RCMP were called to the crash which occurred in the 800 block of Anderson Drive near Correlieu Secondary School.  Investigation has determined that a pickup truck containing a driver and four passengers was traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on Anderson Drive when it left the roadway, rolled and came to rest back on its wheels.

A 19-year-old female was killed in the collision and two others remain hospitalized at Quesnel’s G.R. Baker Hospital in critical condition.

The 22-year-old driver has been arrested and remains in custody facing a number of criminal charges including dangerous driving causing death.

This deadly crash remains under investigation by a specialized collision reconstructionist and members of Quesnel RCMP’s General Investigation Section.

Speed and seat belt non-compliance are contributing factors in this tragedy.
