A woman charged with 10 counts after a disturbance that included assaulting a police officer has received probation.
Joyce Marie Robinson, 28, pleaded guilty to one count each of mischief $5,000 or under, forcible entry or detainer, assault, assault with a weapon, disturbing the peace and assaulting a peace officer and was sentenced to probation of 18 months with conditions.
On March 23, 2015, Terrace RCMP reported that when officers responded to a disturbance on Sparks. St., they found a woman being restrained by bystanders.
The woman, who police said was intoxicated, had broken into a unit, stolen a cane, assaulted numerous people by spitting and hitting them, destroyed the walls and a TV, said police at that time.
Officers arrested the woman and said she spit into the eyes of two police officers, bit a police officer’s finger, and kicked a police officer in the stomach twice.
A suspended sentence means passing of sentence is suspended and the person gets probation, which if completed successfully, means the person isn’t brought back to court to be sentenced further.
The person does have a criminal record when probation ends.
Robinson must also pay a victim fine surcharge of $600 and provide a DNA sample to police.
Charges of assault, possessing weapon for dangerous purpose, wilfully resisting or obstructing a peace officer and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm were stayed by the court.
