A woman was robbed at knife point in broad daylight downtown Wednesday.
The female victim reports she was approached outside the downtown Safeway around 11 a.m. and robbed of her purse, containing ID and other personal items, at knife point.
“She was in the parking lot,” said Gordon Molendyk, spokesperson for the Vernon/North Okanagan RCMP detachment.
She escaped the incident with only minor injuries to her arm and was a little shaken up.
“It would be pretty scary for sure,” said Molendyk.
RCMP and the police service dog searched the area but could not locate the suspect or the woman’s belongings.
The suspect is described as a native male, between 30 and 38 years old, weighing approximately 165 pounds and standing 5’10” to six-feet tall. He was wearing a red hoodie with the hood pulled over his head and dark pants.
Police continue to investigate the incident and are asking anyone with any information about this robbery or anyone who may have seen it to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or the Vernon RCMP detachment at 250-545-7171.
