Coming to the University of Victoria March 8, the Dream Big campaign presents the inspirational film Dream, Girl, screened throughout the world.
The film comes to the University of Victoria on International Women’s Day, March 8.
Started by MakeHerCo founder Linda Biggs, the DreamBig campaign brings together women in hopes of creating support, promoting gender balance and raising funds to support initiatives that provide STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) exposure and experience to girls in Greater Victoria public high schools.
“Basically, the campaign was created out of what my heart ached for … a community of women in business and technology supporting each other. I couldn’t find a female mentor at this stage in my career. I met with about 50 to 80 people over a four-week period, all in leadership positions or founders in the tech community, and only three were women.”
Dream, Girl will be screened in Room 159 of UVic’s Fraser Building. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. with the screening at 5 p.m. A panel discussion follows from 6 to 6:45 p.m. Tickets are $10 from makeherlab.co and partial proceeds of the evening go to Girls Learning to Code events for local high schools.
