Before the kids can get out on a Walnut Grove field and play, families helped ready the diamonds.

North Langley Diamond Sports hosted a work bee to prep fields for the upcoming ball season with many families turning out to lend a hand.

They scrubbed, powerwashed, dug, compacted and more to make the Walnut Grove fields ready for the opening of the season on April 8 when the group will hold a kick-off event.

A wet winter meant they had to work to contour the grounds and fill in low spots before putting on the finishing touches such as lines.

There are about 490 players involved in both baseball and softball through NLDS. Go to www.nldiamondsports.ca for more information.
