Saanich Fire responded to a blaze in a detached, backyard workshop in the 3800 block of Carey Road on Saturday at about 4 p.m.
Upon arrival the firefighters found smoke coming from a workshop in the backyard. An attack crew entered the structure and quickly extinguished the fire, while a second engine was called to the property where a ladder truck, engine and command vehicle were already on scene.
Two residents were home at the time of the call, with one being assessed for mild smoke inhalation though he was not admitted to hospital and remained on scene.
The fire is currently under investigation. Damage is estimated at $30,000.
