Yamaha 4-stroke stolen, and charges laid for gun theft

RCMP report, Barriere

Barriere RCMP report the theft of a blue 9.9 Yamaha 4-stroke outboard motor from 600 block Agate Bay Road.  The motor was on a boat which had been parked in front of a residence for sale.  A Fanout was conducted through the Rural Crimewatch Computer, and anyone with information is asked to call the Barriere Detachment at 250-672-9918, or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Jake Soros, 24, has been in custody since his arrest on July 25, 2010, by Barriere RCMP when they stopped a vehicle for speeding.  As a result of the stop a number of firearms were noted in the vehicle.  A query of the driver (Soros) showed he was prohibited from possessing firearms.  Sixteen firearms were seized by the police and a small amount of ammunition.

As a result of this stop it was determined that the firearms had been stolen from a Barriere residence and not yet reported to the police.  Police also discovered a number of credit cards relating to the residence where the firearms had been stolen from as well.   Recently  Soros appeared in court and was convicted on 20 counts.  He will be sentenced on Sept. 5, 2011, in Kamloops.
