A teenage boy was airlifted to hospital after being struck by a pickup truck on Cottonwood Drive in Maple Ridge Sunday afternoon, according to Ridge Meadows RCMP.
The boy was crossing the road with his dog when struck by a southbound Ford Ranger near 116 Avenue, around 3:40 p.m.
“The youngster was immediately cared for by citizens while emergency services were on their way,” RCMP Cpl. Brenda Winpenny said.
He was airlifted by B.C. Ambulance Service to hospital.
He remains in hospital and is now in stable condition, according to family.
The dog, however, did not survive.
The occupants of the truck remained and have fully cooperated with the investigation, police said.
