A 10-year-old girl who was riding her bike in Wildwood collided with a vehicle on Sunday.
The Williams Lake RCMP say the girl was struck while riding home. Her bicycle was demolished in the collision, but she was fortunate to have received only a concussion and numerous bruises and scrapes, police say.
The girl was wearing a helmet, which police say prevented a more serious injury. The driver offered assistance to the girl at the scene.
The Williams Lake RCMP say collisions such as these, where young people are involved, can be equally traumatizing for both the driver of the vehicle and the cyclist.
For rescue personnel, these are also dreaded calls to attend, police say, adding that drivers are reminded to be watchful for all cyclists on the road this summer.
