Young suspects flee from police

stolen vehicle leads to police foot chase

100 Mile House RCMP officers searched for several young suspects after receiving a report of a possible stolen car on Highway 24 on June 29.

The youths fled on foot when the RCMP turned around to stop the white Pontiac Grand Am, and then police set up a containment area.

A police dog handler from Williams Lake joined the hunt and followed tracks for two kilometres before word came in that two suspects were seen back in the vicinity of the vehicle.

The police dog was redeployed to the area and successfully located two young offender suspects, who were detained by the attending officers.

A further search was conducted, but no additional suspects were located.

The two youths were held in custody until they were released to their parents. A police investigation is underway.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the 100 Mile House RCMP detachment at 250-395-2456 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
