Your daily commute and weather forecast: Dec. 21, 2018

A little sunshine this morning, but clouds returning later today. Breezy commute on the roads today

  • Dec. 21, 2018 12:00 a.m.

Happy Solstice! It was a partly cloudy start to the day at 2 C as of 7 a.m., and the Environment Canada weather service tells us we’ve got 81 per cent humidity and 4 km/h winds from the southwest.

After such a chaotic day yesterday, it looks like we have a slight break from all the dreary weather, today.

We can expect to see the sun retreat over the course of the day, with a mainly sunny morning and increasing cloudiness early this afternoon, with a high of 6 C. Tonight, we can expect to see clouds and periods of rain and a low of 3 C.

After that, we’re back to the dreary weather, with rain forecast for Saturday to Monday, a chance of showers on Christmas Day and a chance of rain showers or flurries that night. On Boxing Day, we’re looking at flurries or rain showers and overnight, a chance of flurries.

So there’s some chance we’ll see some flakes falling from the sky over the Christmas week, but with highs of 3 to 7 C and lows of 0 to 5 C over the next week, it’s unlikely any snow would stick around.

Currently, visibility is 24 kilometres.

On clear roads and driving at the speed limit, a drive from the Abbotsford News building to Downtown Vancouver would take 50 minutes.

Today’s daily commute time as of 7:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, 2018 is a breezy one hour six minutes, with only a few minor sections of congestion past the Port Mann Bridge.
