The youth of Castlegar shone at Tuesday’s city council meeting. A delegation of this year’s Miss Castlegar contestants began the meeting by introducing themselves to council. The young ladies eloquently expressed their interests, future goals and reasons for joining the Miss Castlegar program.
Due to the fact that there are 15 contestants this year, the pageant will be held in two phases. The speech portion will be held on May 28, but the winner will remain secret until pageant night on June 5.
Council presented each of the girls with the book “Castlegar- a Confluence”. Mayor Chernoff acknowledged the excellent job the contestants are doing and added, “I really want to thank you for your participation in this program. I just want to wish you all the very best.”
