Nada, zero, ziltch — that’s the number of cases of COVID-19 detected in Quesnel from Feb. 28 to March 6.
Those numbers were released a week after, on March 10. Cases are down across the province, with only eight local health areas detecting more than 20 cases per 100,000 people during the week.
Most of those local heath areas are in the northwest region of the province. Prince Rupert’s case count is so high, the vaccine is being offered to all adults living inside the city.
Hotspots around Quesnel are also on the decline. The Cariboo-Chilcotin region detected only two cases, Prince George found 31, and Burns Lake also detected no cases.
The 100 Mile House local health area was also COVID-free that week.
The lower cases come as more people are being vaccinated. The city and Cariboo Regional District are in negotiations with Northern Health to put a mass vaccination clinic at Quesnel’s Arena 2.
