Bernice Anne Turcott

February 17, 1928 – November 20, 2023
In loving memory ~
Bernice, born February 17, 1928, in Winnipeg, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2023, at Eden Care Centre. She had battled dementia and poor mobility for the past 6-8 years, as well as macular degeneration for 23 years, which robbed her of her independence. She was a wonderful person that the world will miss. She was always available when someone needed help, and she was always eager for any family get together. Bernice cherished her family and would do anything to make their life better.
Midway through her life, Bernie began spinning, knitting, and weaving wool, straight from her sheep. As a charter member of the Chilliwack weaver’s guild, her work received awards. She loved to travel and mix with all kinds of people. She and Jim spent many weeks on cruises and loved to host at their home.
She is predeceased by her first husband, Otto Smith, who was in the military. They started a family in Chilliwack and moved to several other provinces in Canada, before retiring back in Chilliwack. Bernice remarried in 1991 and is survived by her husband Jim Turcott. She is also survived by her sons Randy (Myrna), Casey (Gay) and her Grandsons Jeremy and Lee, and her great-granddaughter Kinley. Bernice is survived by Jim’s children, Victor (Becky), Clifford (Connie) and Susan (Dave), the grandchildren, Chantel (Cody), Christine (Jarrod), Chelsea (Dillon), Alexa and Connor, and the great grandchildren, Ivana, Isla, Sadie, Laci, Kaylie, and Rylie.
Celebration of life will be held at Broadway MB Church 46611 Maple Ave, on Saturday Dec 2, at 2pm.
