David Murray Bavis

February 18, 1942 – December 1, 2023
In loving memory ~

On Friday, December 1, the world lost a well-loved man.
A Vancouver Islander for the best part of his life, Murray was born in Victoria and raised in Woss, where he made many life long friends, including Janet, Peter, and Patty Jorgensen.
Most of his working years were given to the logging industry, where he drove log trucks and operated heavy equipment. His last job was with Bendickson Contractors.
In 1989, Murray married the love of his life, Patty. Together, they enjoyed many years living in Oyster River in their own little piece of paradise, where Murray was an avid gardener and amazing wood crafter and where he loved to sit and watch the grass grow.
Murray was predeceased by his parents, Joan and Gus Bavis. He leaves behind his loving wife Patty, children Robin Jackson (Keith) and Clayton Macdonald, and grandchildren Payton, Taylor, Madison, Aidan, and Graiden. He will be missed by his sister Donna Salikin (Joe) and brother Paul (Cindy), as well as nephews Kevin, Steven, Matt, and niece Lisa and many more extended family and friends.
Heartfelt thanks to the staff on 3B at the Campbell River Hospital, especially nurses Miranda, Colleen, and Nicola, who were so supportive and gentle during the last days of Murray’s struggle to pass from congestive heart failure. Also, thanks to Dr. extraordinaire, Willem Prinsloo, and Dr. Farias from the MAID Program. Your kindness will not be forgotten.
As per Murray’s wishes, there will be no service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Dying with Dignity Canada in Murray’s memory.
