4-H members get ready for parade

Club busy but looking forward to participating in Canada Day in Rock Creek.

Boundary C 4-H Club hosted Regional Communications on May 14 at the Rock Creek Fairgrounds.

The top two senior teams for demonstrations and the top two senior individual speakers from each district competed. Juniors do not compete past the district level.

Boundary C members did well with demonstration team members Marijka van Kuik and Olivia Schneider placing third and Adele and Jade Fossen taking second.  Marijka van Kuik also placed third in public speaking.

Best wishes to Adele, Jade and all other demonstrators and speakers who are heading to Provincials in Kamloops this July.

The following day, May 15, ranch horse members enjoyed an excellent ride near Bridesville. Members had another ride on June 3 in the Ingram Creek area.

All of the Boundary C members and their families gathered on June 5 for a meeting, barbecue and games. Following the meeting, members completed their registration forms for Provincial Winter Fair.

After a delicious meal the games began. Kids and a few dads struggled into rain pants, overalls, or a snowsuit and a helmet which they had to wear while they had to fill a bucket with wood shavings using a pitch fork, tie a stay to a fence, rope a straw bale, sew a button and use a water gun to shoot a plastic cup along a string.

The evening ended in a massive water fight, involving water guns, buckets and a high-pressure fire hose.

Beef and sheep members are looking forward to grooming and showing clinics on the weekend of June 25-26.

All members will be participating in the Rock Creek Canada Day parade and will be organizing the children’s games afterwards at the Rock Creek Medical Centre.
