The following is our fourth blog entry to our 60 in 60 challenge. For those of you who missed our column 4 weeks ago (see bit.ly/1LqaMVq) Erica and I have embarked on a journey to lose 60 pounds (combined) in 60 weeks (concurrent). We will have weekly online updates and monthly submissions into the Record newspaper.

Terry: So do you think we woke up the neighbors this morning?

Erica: Are you talking about when we weighed in? It’s entirely possible. That was a pretty big cheer we let out at 6:30 a.m.

T: I’ll let you break the good news this week.

E: I’m happy to announce we lost a total of 4.8 pounds between us in the last 7 days.

T: That’s a running total of 16.8 pounds in the first four weeks.

E: Yay, Team Farrell!

T: So… Let’s talk about clothes this week.

E: Yes! I got into my slightly skinnier jeans this week. There was a day when I put on my work jeans and had to swap them for a different pair, because they were too loose.

T: Nothing  says weight-loss success like loose-fitting jeans.

E: It really is a special feeling. How about you? Have you had any exciting wardrobe moments?

T: Funny you should ask… It looks like I will be shopping for a new belt. My dress belt does not tighten enough anymore. I remember buying it. I had to buy it because my old one didn’t expand enough.

E: So where is your old one? Actually, never mind. Shopping for a new one will be a rewarding experience.

T: Speaking of shopping, I can’t believe I didn’t go out to the grocery stores and buy half-price Halloween candy on November 1. That’s been an annual tradition for as long as I can remember.

E: I’m happy we won’t have any Rockets around the house for the next two months. I’m so proud of you.

T: mmmmmmm. Rockets.

E: Terry. Focus.

T: Yes. Where were we? Oh, Halloween. Apparently word got out that we were handing out Fibre bars for Halloween this year. We only had two kids come to our door.

E: I think the parents are thanking us. Plus, I did give out glow sticks.

T: Well, I know what we will do with the leftover Fibre bars, but what about these glow sticks?

E: Ummmm …Christmas decorations?

T: I know! We could host a rave!

E: So… Christmas decorations it is.

T: This weekend will be a challenge. We are heading to my brother’s for a weekend visit. He’s quite a good cook… And he has rum.

E: And I have a birthday.

T: Another reason to celebrate. You’ll definitely want to celebrate after writing your physio exam Saturday morning.

E: Don’t remind me. I will be glad when that’s done.

T: We may have some extra hard work to do after this weekend. The timing is good. It’s graduation week for me again.

E: Increasing your running times?

T: Yes. This week I move up to 10-minute cycles. I will be at 30-minute runs before I know it.

E: Running. Blech.

T: What are you going to do?

E: Well, I know I won’t be increasing my walking speed, because if I were to walk any faster I would be running.

T: That’s funny because if I were to run any slower…

E: Ha ha.

T: So what will your extra hard work entail?

E: I will either increase my time or increase the incline when I’m on the treadmill. Either one should help me burn a few more calories.

T: Well, it’s been a good month. But we both know that the weight we have lost so far has been the “easy” portion of our challenge.

E: It gets more difficult from here on in.

T: As long as we stick to our plan we will be fine.

E: It’s working so far. We love the encouragement we’re receiving from the 60 in 60 Nation. We hope your journey is going as well as ours is. Keep us posted at farrell60in60@gmail.com

T: And watch for our monthly “print” update in next Thursday’s Record.
