A casual stroll different during COVID-19

Is someone in our six foot comfort zone?

A casual stroll different during COVID-19

As David Bowie once sang: “Let’s dance”.

Zig, Zag, Turn-around.

Look ahead. Now over your shoulder.

Remember Pac Man, the video/arcade game? That’s how it feels navigating the sidewalks these days. It’s no longer a casual stroll.

Is someone in our six foot comfort zone? Can the virus leap the distance and pounce on us? The mind is always alert, the body ready to flee.

I read an article that said our reptilian brain is warning us of danger. It’s saying there is a bear and beware. The mild anxiety some of us are feeling is real.

There are remedies. Let’s add a new move to the dance. Deep breath in, and out. Repeat. Again and again. Distraction also quiets thoughts.

Thank you to those who have placed hearts in their windows. And chalk drawings on pavement. It helps to smile while I’m dancing in the street.
