With summer finally falling into autumn, the “Seasons” begin. School season, soccer season, hockey season(usually) just to name a few…help us enjoy the long “winter” we must “weather” before we find ourselves once more under the Summer Sky; feeling carefree.
Perhaps art and culture arose as the brain’s answer to the sports’ brawn.
The Arts Council and its members look forward to the season finding a variety of wonderful and entertaining things to do.
The Concert Society has Lorne Elliot in town on Saturday October 20th at 7:30pm. The Canadian comedian is absolutely great. I’ve listened to him on CBC Radio. Seasons tickets are available at Creative Fix and tickets for individual performances are available at Black Bear Books.
Extravaganza 2012 put on by the Creston Valley Music Teachers Association is happening Friday October 12th at 7:00pm and Sunday the 14th, at 2:30pm. Kokanee Brass, Key of She, Bob Van Der Poel and more.
The Library Show is back for another season. “Shutter” features the photography of Howard Smith, Jim Smith and Jeff Banman. It can be seen during Library hours until November 17th, 2012.
Art in the Chamber currently has two exhibits on. Works by the Creston Fibre Artisans and their “Slice” of Creston are in the Chamber until November 19th. So too, are the works of the Go-Go-Grannies who – raise money for grannies in Africa to look after kids with hiv/aids.
Having entered the season of hockey parent just recently (my grandson started to play) I’ve discovered that arts & culture is definitely brains answer to brawn’s sport. I’m guessing in the perfect world we’d get just enough of both.
I’m eagerly looking forward to the 2012/13 season…let the games begin.
