To the Editor:
As Lorne Eckersley wrote in his review of Tom’s Gray Creek, Part II, my friend Tom Lymbery is indeed a great character. Tom was sent to a boy’s school in North Vancouver that I later attended, and we became friends at our annual reunions, held, sadly, for the last time last May. I treasure both Parts of these fine exemplars of local histories, which truly revitalize the past lives and ways on the east shore of Kootenay Lake. I first visited Creston for a survey of the CPR Kootenay River bridge in the 1950s, when Nelson to Creston involved two ferries and a long drive on the east shore, so these works have particular meaning for me. Keep at it, Tom, there are many years left.
