A response

Resident responds to letter writer's comments about an editorial cartoon

In the Feb. 15 edition of this publication, a gentleman voiced his displeasure over a cartoon published on Feb. 3.

While he, and others, who hold very right-wing views have every right to their beliefs, one thing struck me as odd.

The impassioned assertion that he is a Trump supporter, incited in me the very response one has when faced with utter nonsense.

You sir, do not live in the U.S. and have no more an investment in the governance of that nation than I do in upper Mongolia.

If you are enamoured with the ever-changing policies and practices of the current White House administration, then by all means, go where you feel understood.

While it may be the best thing on television right now, we as Canadians, and in light of the upcoming election British Columbians, must keep our eyes on our own paper, so to speak. One cannot avoid the media circus south of the border but to pledge allegiance to it is an insult to those who work to govern the land in which you live, whether you agree with them or not.
